Jake, Esther and Mark have been friends since Uni. Esther and Jake are engaged and destined to be the perfect Jewish couple, but Jake has been in Israel for almost two years "finding himself" while Esther has waited for him back in London. Esther now lives with Mark to save money and avoid her parents incessant questions. Then Jake returns.
Jake has decided to become Orthodox, he asks Esther to do the same, while she wrestles with her own lack of faith, Jake makes a bold statement of his by intimating he thinks he may be the Messiah! Mark, meanwhile, is appalled at Jakes seemingly callous behaviour and eventually decides to act on his long burning passion for Esther, while Mark's girlfriend Katy tries to diagnose the delusional Jake.
