Graham Huggins

Having gained an M.Sc. in engineering from the College of Aeronautics at Cranfield University, England, he went on to hold various professional positions ranging from Technical Sales to Design Engineer. As Senior Commissioning Engineer for the Blue Circle Cement Group he was responsible for the commissioning of the control systems for the then largest Cement Kiln in the world in Kent, England.

In 1970 he made a major career change and joined Charles Fulton Group as a Trainee International Money Broker; appointed in 1978 Managing Director of their Money Markets Division based in London.

In 1980 an opportunity arose in the USA with the Tullett and Tokyo Group, another major financial broker, as a Senior Vice President in their New York office helping to spearhead their entry into the deregulating United States financial markets. In 1983 he was headhunted by a United States Corporate Bond Broker, MKI Securities, to develop and head up their newly formed International Money Markets Division where he held the position of Executive Vice President.

In 1986 he was recruited by the Martin Bierbaum Group to be global head of their Money Markets operation holding the position of Group Executive Director. During this time he spent two years in their Tokyo office where after six months the Japanese partners appointed him Head of the whole operation in tandem with his global Bierbaum role.

In 1991 seeking a new challenge, he joined the Prebon Yamane Group as Group Training Officer to form a Group Training Division based in London. In this role he created a groundbreaking training programme for financial dealers and brokers culminating in a Diploma Course validated by the University of London. All of the brokers in London subsequently adopted the course as an industry standard. During this period he served as Chairman of the Education Board of the ACI, the global body for all professional dealers and brokers in the financial markets.

In 1996 his career took yet another turn when Prebon appointed him to head up their emerging Energy Division in the United States. In 1998 he transferred to the European theatre of Energy operations and in 1999 was appointed Global Chairman of a newly formed Energy Group. This was then the largest Energy Interdealer Broker in the world with offices in New York, Houston, London, Amsterdam, Singapore and Sydney.

Fulfilling a desire for challenge and independence he left Prebon in May 2001 to start his own consulting company specialising in Energy, Management, Career Counselling and coaching issues. This resulted in the new company, H&S Consultants, advising various energy brokerage houses on their strategic development. The main client for the period June 2002 to date has been Amerex Energy Inc. of America where he has been advising on the development of their European operation developing it from six brokers with an annual revenue of $3.5 million and profits of $300K to the current thirty brokers with annual revenues of around $30 million and profits of $4 million. In June 2004 he was appointed Managing Partner in Amerex Petroleum LLP, which is the vehicle for the European Operation of Amerex Energy Inc.

In December 2007 Amerex Europe was sold to the Tullett Prebon Group and so the connection with Amerex ceased. Today he is acting as consultant to various parties in Europe and the UK on a part time basis as he has started a Media Production Company based on the new technology and distribution systems that are now emerging.
